RULES OF THE GAME:
TRASH is a card game that depending upon the number of players can take up to 2 hours to finish. Up to 50 people can play at one table by using a standard 52 card poker deck (2 Jokers can be added as an option). Each person playing needs to have only 4 quarters.
The object of the game is NOT to be stuck holding the lowest card(s) at the end of each round because it will cost you to put a quarter in the pot.
The dealer will pass around the deck to the right and each person will take the top card and place it face down and pass along the deck to the next person until it reaches the dealer who will also take the top card. Everyone will take a peek at their card to see what they were dealt.
The first person to the right of the dealer can either keep their card or trade it with the next person. The second person MUST trade their card unless they have an Ace. The Ace stops the trading and is placed face up. The person after the Ace then decides to keep or trade their card and so around the table it goes. The dealer also must trade their card unless it is an Ace and then has the option of keeping their card or taking one off the top of the deck. After the dealer makes their decision - you turn over your cards and the lowest card(s)* put a quarter into the pot. Then the deal starts all over again to the right.
* To keep the game at a faster pace, it works best to have the lowest 3 cards until there is one-half the group left and then the lowest two cards when that number is halved and then again when that number is halved and only the lowest card pays. EXAMPLE: 40 people play and the lowest 3 cards pay - when the group gets to 20 then the lowest two cards pay and at 10 just the lowest card pays.
When a player puts their last quarter in the pot, they are out of the game. This continues until there is one last player who takes the pot.
